Important Tax Return Extension Notice and News Updates

Since Bruce Warner will be (working) out of his office from March 10th through March 20th, we would appreciate it if you could provide requests for tax return filing extensions by no later than March 9th.  If you have changed addresses or have a new business this year, please provide the data asked for in our Extension Request Form located at

At a minimum, please provide an e-mail to us listing the extensions you would like us to file.  Please also provide us with your signed tax return preparation engagement letters.

Please make sure we have the organization (formation) documents, tax election forms, employer ID numbers and S corporation acceptance letters for new businesses or if you are a first-time client.

We have received a large wave of documents from clients and are working as fast as we can through them.  If you have not provided information for your business returns by now, it may be too late for us to get an accurate filing prepared by March 16th.

Here are the tax return filing deadlines, assuming no extension is filed:

March 16th – deadline for C and S corporations

April 15th – deadline for individual returns and partnerships

Here are the tax return filing deadlines, assuming an extension has been filed:

September 15th – final deadline for filing returns of corporations and partnerships

October 15th – final deadline for filing individual tax returns

Please remember that an extension of time to file a return is not an extension of time to pay any taxes due.  Please consider whether you owe any taxes in connection with a request to extend your individual or C corporation returns.  The IRS (and sometimes states) assess heavy penalties for late payment of taxes due and for late filed returns. Please let us know if you will need a payment voucher in connection with your extension request, and the amount of tax you want to pay.
